Two reported Celtic targets who surely won't be signing after Liel Abada move
With Celtic finally having strengthened at right-wing with Liel Abada, at the same time it should put two transfer stories to bed.
Celtic have long since needed some competition for James Forrest. Not since Patrick Roberts was lighting it up under Brendan Rodgers have we had a genuine contender.
Sure, there have been some pretenders. Marian Shved being one, but we’ve already gone over him. The main takeaway is that we’ve finally added an exciting right-winger to the squad who should be able to push James.
And in doing so, Celtic fans should now forget about two other transfer stories that have been doing the rounds.
Firstly, there have been reports in Portugal this summer that Celtic want impressive Boavista winger Alberth Elis. The Portuguese club are said to be expecting offers from four clubs including Celtic [A Bola]. However, the fee being bandied around is €10million [£8.6m].
With Celtic having already splashed out a few million on Abada, don’t expect Elis to be in the door any time soon. The player personally has his eyes on the English Premier League in any case, where there’s said to be interest [A Bola].

Celtic sign Abada and put an end to speculation over right-wing area
And the second we can put a cross through is the prospect of signing Bright Osayi-Samuel from Fenerbahce.
Like in Portugal, the Turkish media believe Celtic to be a contender for the former QPR man [Fotospor]. Osayi-Samuel has only been with Fener since January, but he’s been mooted as available for €4m [£3.4m] [Atspor].
Osayi-Samuel also has experience as a left-winger. But even though we need reinforcements down the left flank also, our time would be better spent looking for a natural left-sided player.
When James Forrest and Karamoko Dembele return from injury, Celtic will be in good shape down the right side. Another addition and they would simply have too many cooks in the kitchen. We have enough quality in that area.
If either Elis or Osayi-Samuel were cheaper, you could understand a punt on one of them. But these are big-money players we’re talking about. Blockbuster signings in a way if he pulled them off.
So with Abada coming into the mix at Parkhead, it’s time to forget about the prospect of Elis or Osayi-Samuel pitching up at Celtic anytime soon.
