“We might as well just liquidate”; Arsenal fans are gutted to have missed out on Celtic deal

It’s fair to say plenty of Arsenal fans are gutted to miss out on Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard.

It has been reported by The Sunday Times that Leicester have ‘won the race’ to sign the Frenchman ahead of Arsenal and Inter Milan.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported similarly this afternoon.

Edouard looks on the brink of an exit, with a fee of £15m reported by The Times. That won’t be as much as the club had hoped for a couple of years ago. However, with a year left on his contract it’s not terrible business.

What it is, is a bargain for Brendan Rodgers and Leicester. A player with Edouard’s quality and potential moving for under £20m is a real bargain in the context of other deals happening in the English Premier League.

Arsenal fans aren’t happy

Arsenal haven’t exactly been on the front foot when it comes to transfers recently. The failure to sign Boubakary Soumare, who also looks set for the Foxes, has left their fans upset too.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa reportedly beat them to the signing of Emi Buendia. [Teamtalk]

It all adds up to a rather depressing narrative for Gunners supporters.

Still, they managed to get Kieran Tierney for a price well below his current value, so they can’t complain too much.

These Arsenal fans have taken to social media over the last few days to share their thoughts…
