Celtic have finally announced their fourth signing of the summer. But the nature of the announcement has not gone down well with the Hoops support.
Hatem Abd Elhamed has signed for the Hoops on a four-year deal. He will no doubt be welcomed by the Hoops support.
However, the Tweet announcing the signing said ‘right-back…announced’.
The problem with that is that the player has spent most of his career as a centre-back. That is almost always where he played for Hapoel Be’er Sheva.
The Tweet didn’t go unnoticed by the Celtic support. One fan asked the club to announce a ‘first choice right-back’.
“Announce first choice”

Here are some of the best reactions from Twitter to the announcement:

Judging by the nature of the announcement, Elhamed will be Celtic’s main right-back going forward. That is a bit concerning.
Debut could be in first league game of the season

If another right-back is signed, then Elhamed could be used as both cover at centre-back and right-back. The unfortunate thing for the player is that he cannot make his debut against Nomme Kalju in the Champions League qualifiers.
He was not signed in time for the game. Therefore, his debut may come in the league against St Johnstone, or in the third round of the qualifiers.
Every Celtic supporter will get behind the player and wish him all the best, no matter what position he plays in.
