Sheffield Wednesday fans are not happy the club are on the verge of losing defensive talent Osaze Urhoghide to Celtic.
Reports north and south of the border have emerged today indicating that the 20-year-old is ready to sign up at the Bhoys.
His contract has expired at the Owls, so Celtic would only have to pay training compensation.
The Daily Record reckon that would only total £200,000. That’s far less than what Wednesday would get if Urhoghide moved to one of the English clubs who want him.
It follows on from a similar move for midfielder Liam Shaw, who is now training with the club at Lennoxtown after completing a free transfer from the recently relegated English League One side.
It’s a strategy that Celtic have followed for a while, even back to the days of Moussa Dembele. He arrived from Fulham in a similar cross-border compensation fee deal.
Owls supporters aren’t amused though. They’re worried about Celtic circling round their best talents and attracting them to Scotland for a pittance. In fairness, that seems to be exactly what we are doing.
However, that’s a good thing for us! Any advantage we can get in the current transfer market should be encouraged in my book. There’s enough money swilling around English football as it is.
Still, fans of Wednesday have taken to social media today to share their distress at Celtic’s tactics…
When did we become Celtic’s feeder club 😂

Does it get any worse becoming a feeder club to a team in the dog n duck league. Shaw and urhoghide could have stopped with us and played a better standard and gone on to real big clubs down here. TIN POT.
