67 Hail Hail can exclusively reveal where Daizen Maeda’s preferred destination would be as he eyes a move away from Celtic.

Maeda told Celtic he wanted to leave this summer in a bombshell admission that left everyone at the club rocked.

A move away couldn’t be finalised and the Japan international remained at Celtic Park.

It hasn’t been all swings and roundabouts since then, and the 27-year-old has only scored three goals in all competitions.

It seems like a matter of when, not if, Maeda will leave and 67 Hail Hail can provide more insight on his potential move.

Daizen Maeda wants to move to England

Brendan Rodgers will have a dilemma to face as Maeda’s contract expires in the summer of 2027.

If he is not sold in January, he will have to be sold in the summer to avoid the risk of any clubs signing him for free.

Our Chief Football Correspondent Graeme Bailey told 67 Hail Hail that Maeda is ‘ready to leave’ and that a move south of the border is where his heart is set.

He said: “Maeda is ready to leave and I am told a move to England is very much on his radar, and he does have interest.

“Whether Celtic will let him out in January remains to be seen, but he will only have a year left come the summer and at that point he will go.”

Which Premier League clubs are interested in Daizen Maeda?

Brentford were one of the clubs courting Maeda in the summer and Bailey added that the Bees could go back in for the left winger, but other top flight clubs could also make an approach.

“I am told a number of Premier League clubs will be ready to test Celtic’s resolve,” Bailey added.

“Brentford like him, but there are others – don’t rule out the likes of West Ham, Leeds, Burnley, Sunderland coming in – anyone who needs goals and they all have the money.”
