When it comes to Celtic’s work in the transfer market, all the focus has been on certain positions. Right-back is obviously the position that has been the discussed the most.
The Hoops are in need of a signing in that area, and hopefully progress has been made. There has also been talks of left-backs, centre-backs and midfielders.
However, one position that has rarely been discussed and is almost forgotten about is that of goalkeeper. It could be because that Celtic look well set in goalkeepers, with Scott Bain and Craig Gordon.
Experienced player could move on
It would not be a shock though, to see a club, perhaps in England, bid for Gordon before the transfer window ends.
Teams will be looking for an experienced goalkeeper, and Gordon is certainly that. The fact that he is into the last year of his contract could also play a part.
The Hoops could be amenable to moving the player on if he doesn’t want to sign a new contract.
Any replacement would need to challenge number one
Should Gordon leave then the Hoops would need to consider bringing a replacement in. One that could challenge Scott Bain for the number one position.
Whilst things may be quiet on the goalkeeping front at the moment, that may change sooner than people think.
The club will no doubt be aware of that, and if Gordon should leave, will look to get a replacement in as soon as possible.
