Celtic’s next Europa League game is a chance for the Hoops to gain revenge on Cluj, after the Romanian champions knocked Celtic out of the Champions League.

The game will give Celtic another chance to look at Cluj striker Billel Omrani. Omrani was the star man for Cluj in the last game between the teams at Celtic Park. He scored twice in Cluj’s 4-3 win.

He has continued his good form, as he scored the winner for Cluj in their 2-1 win over Lazio. The intriguing thing is that Celtic were linked with a move for Omrani after he knocked the Hoops out of the Champions League.

Reports in Romania suggested that Hoops bid for player

GSP in Romania reported that the Hoops bid £3 million for the player. However, the move didn’t happen. Now Celtic will see the player in action twice more in the colours of Cluj.

However, should the player once more be effective at Celtic Park, will the Hoops bid for him in January? It could be a good idea. You can never have enough strikers in your squad.

Celtic currently have three strikers that are battling it out for a first-team place. However, you have to imagine that Odsonne Edouard’s long-term future is not with the Hoops, unfortunately.

Good goalscoring return so far this season

Signing a player like Omrani could be a sign of the Hoops planning for the future. He has scored nine goals in 15 games for Cluj this season, which is a very good return.

Of course, it would be better for the Hoops if Omrani did not add to his tally against Celtic in the two fixtures between the sides.

Only time will tell if Celtic decide to move for a striker in the January transfer window. However, if they do, Omrani could well be a player that is on the list of players that the Hoops are considering making a move for.
