Celtic’s never-ending search for a right-back looks set to continue for a while yet. The Hoops had been linked with a move for Huddersfield’s Tommy Smith.
However, the Daily Record are reporting that the player is set to join Stoke City. That could open the door for a move for Sheffield United’s George Baldock.
Clubs were reportedly in talks

The Championship promotion winner was linked with a move to the Scottish Champions last month, with the clubs reportedly in talks about a move.
However, no move has happened yet, despite the player reportedly being keen on moving to Scotland. To add more intrigue to the situation, The Sun recently reported that Stoke and Celtic were both interested in Baldock.
Stoke would seem out of the running for the player now after signing Smith.

Right-back situation is serious
The right-back situation at Celtic is pretty serious. Kristoffer Ajer had to play in that role against Sarajevo this week. Even though he did well, that can’t happen on a regular basis.
Neil Lennon will be desperate to bring a new right-back to the club as soon as possible. Baldock may be that player.

The fact that he seems keen on the move could be a promising sign. That could prompt the Hoops to make a bid for the player as soon as possible.
Only time will tell if a move for Baldock occurs, but Celtic really do need to sign a right-back.
