Wolfsberger club president Dietmer Riegler is resigned to selling Shon Weissman this summer, giving an update on the Celtic target’s situation to Austrian outlet Unterkarnter Nachrichten this week.

Weissman was linked with a move to Celtic by The Telegraph last month, who reported that the Scottish champions see him as a potential successor to French sensation Odsonne Edouard.

The Israeli international’s 2019/20 season was quite exceptional, scoring a hefty 30 goals in 31 league appearances and adding another two in the Europa League group stages (Transfermarkt).

Still just 24-years-old, he is now set to make a move to a bigger club this summer.

As quoted by Unterkarnter Nachrichten, Wolfsberger chief Riegler said: “Shon has certain ideas. There are many indications that we will lose him.

“After all, it is not every day that the top scorer of the Bundesliga plays in Wolfsberger. For him, WAC is a stepping stone for bigger challenges and in my opinion he is ready for it.

“Enquiries are already there. And we have certain ideas about the transfer fee.”

Weissman’s incredible campaign has made him one of the hottest attacking properties on the continent and Sport24 reckon that a bid of €10m could be needed to convince the Austrian side of a sale.

However, he does only have a year left on his contract, perhaps bringing Celtic into the equation when it comes to transfer fee negotiation.

Ultimately it looks like the player will have a large say in determining his destination.

With English and German clubs also said to be keen on Weissman, by Sport24, we may find ourselves priced out of a move.

Thankfully there are no indications we’re ready to sell Edouard quite yet and he’ll be a potent enough attacker for the Bhoys over the next 12 months.

In other news, Beram Kayal has confidently predicted that Celtic will win ten-in-a-row this season.
