Video: Reported Celtic target Mohanad Jeahze's stunning free-kick goal yesterday
Reported Celtic target Mohanad Jeahze netted a stunning free-kick goal for Hammarby in their 3-3 draw with AIK yesterday.
The Scottish Sun reported last week that the Hoops were closing in on a move for the £2m-rated left-back. However, Ange Postecoglou and the player have since poured cold water over any move being that close.
And as he continues to be linked ahead of the summer transfer window, he’s just netted an absolute cracker for the Swedish outfit. You can view the video for yourself below:
The result wasn’t enough to see Hammarby overtake AIK, who remain 2 points clear. However, the former have a game in-hand.
Whether Jeahze stays in Sweden or not remains to be seen. Celtic remain in need of a left-back this summer to offer stern competition for Greg Taylor.
And goals like this from the Iraq international won’t do anything to tame the rumours surrounding his long-term future.
Celtic-linked Mohanad Jeahze nets stunning effort
This is something of a collector’s item from Jeahze in fairness. He won’t be popping up wtih free-kick goals every week should we sign him. That effort yesterday marked only his 3rd goal for the club in 57 appearances [Transfermarkt].
It’s an incredible strike from him regardless and he does extremely well to catch the AIK goalkeeper unaware.
You can’t help but feel there was an element of Shunsuke Nakamura-like quality to the free-kick. And given it’s well known how good a crossing range the left-back has, he can evidently be a good provider should he be snapped up.
Ange has already stated that he wants Celtic to get their work done early this summer [The Scotsman]. He doesn’t want to be left scrambling in the final days of the transfer window trying to patch up his squad. Therefore, a solution regarding the Jeahze saga will hopefully present itself soon.
Whether Celtic even want him or not remains debatable. Granted, Swedish reports have already claimed that we’ve been in attendance and scouted the player in recent weeks [Expressen].
Time will tell on this one, but another fine moment for the player yesterday undoubtedly.
