Celtic have booked their place in the Premier Sports Cup final on December 19th.

It’s a massive moment for Ange Postecoglou as he looks to win his first major trophy for the club at the first attempt. The Greek-Australian managed to see through a successful first-ever visit to the national stadium with yesterday’s 1-0 win against St Johnstone.

However, the game will also come just a day after a crucial away trip to St Mirren in the Cinch Premiership. The fixture is one of 2 away games being snubbed by Sky Sports in December.

Due to the fact Celtic will now be playing in the League Cup final on that date, the match against the Buddies will now need to be postponed. It’s yet to be revealed when that clash will be played.

It’s also unclear whether Sky Sports will select the match for coverage when the re-arranged date is made.

Celtic still have 7 games to play before their Hampden crunch clash.

Celtic need a strong December run in all competitions

The Hoops are absolutely flying at the moment after a strong run of form over the course of October and November. A run of 6 wins in 7 games has pushed both our domestic and European prospects.

Of course, Celtic simply can’t let up anytime soon. A strong December is going to be absolutely crucial to our campaign in all competitions.

Heading into the Premier Sports Cup final, we’ll want to have a strong run of form behind us. Not to mention the fact we’re in the midst of a close title-race in any case. A prolonged winning run is essential in the coming weeks.

Many have previously labelled the League Cup as the least of Celtic’s priorities. Whilst that has regularly been the case in the past, it holds special significance this year.

It sends out a major statement if Ange Postecoglou can turn around and take the first trophy of the season. Only months after coming into the country too.

Here’s to a successful winter period for the Hoops. If we manage that, we should be sitting in an exciting place come the new year.
