FC Cincinnati star Andrew Gutman has been encouraged to halt his MLS adventure and return to Celtic by impressed Hoops fans.

Gutman was sent over to the MLS on a loan deal until the end of the 2020 campaign. With the global pandemic having put football in cold storage for several months, however, question marks remain over whether the left-back will still be contracted to Cincinnati for the full season.

Regardless, he’s been impressing on a weekly basis. Cincinnati fans have loved what they’ve seen of the Celtic loan star, who has now made 17 appearances for the MLS franchise (Transfermarkt).

And it appears his performances have done enough for some Celtic supporters to want him back in Glasgow. Here’s a look at some of the reaction on his Twitter in recent days:

Gutman’s MLS apprenticeship will stand him in good stead

Celtic appear to have made a solid decision in sending Gutman back home to give him a year against talented MLS stars.

Granted, whether his departure was down to his squad position or potential visa issues, it’s still a positive to see him adapting so well to the USA’s highest level.

It’s ironic that Celtic are in need of a new left-back whilst Gutman shines in the MLS. However, it’s just one of these things that the club will need to get on with.

There’s absolutely no sign of Gutman leaving the MLS anytime soon, and nor should there be. All of these experiences will help him to fully make his mark when he does return either in the winter or before next summer.

Coming up against the likes of Gyasi Zardes, Alexandru Mitirita, and Michael Barrios will be a lot more productive than simply sitting on our bench behind Greg Taylor.

All eyes continue to be on Gutman’s development. And hopefully, when he’s set to come back, there’s nothing stopping him from making an impact in Scotland.

In other news, a long-term Celtic-linked striker looks set to finally move elsewhere today.
