Celtic under Fran Alonso are going great guns in the league. In second place, they face Rangers on Thursday night where a win will effectively end Rangers title hopes. They could leapfrog Glasgow City into first place if they fail to defeat Hibs at Petershill Park.
This afternoon, Alonso appeared on Sky Sports where the Celtic boss was addressing the first fixture between the two since the infamous headbutt from Rangers coach Craig McPherson.

Alonso said, “It’s game where both teams need to win and we are in our home, with our fans. So we are very, very looking forward to it and we are also very confident that we keep this momentum that we are having we can have a good result.
“So we are preparing for it and hopefully it’s a cracking game and hopefully we get the three points.”
Alonso was then asked about the headbutt in the previous meeting between the two sides. The Celtic boss was asked if he expects the football to be the main talking point and not anything off-field.
Alonso said, “Yeah, I’m very, very confident that we will talk about football.
“I’m very confident that from our point of view, we always focus on the football. And this is what it’s all gonna be about.
“So yeah, hopefully, everyone is talking how good we play. How great it is for the next league games if we manage to get the three points and not about anything away from football.”
Celtic will be hoping for a decent crowd to cheer on the Ghirls at the Excelsior Stadium on Thursday night. Kick off is at 7pm and is live on Sky Sports.
