"Glasgow is green"; Fran Alonso's class Twitter post after Celtic demolish rivals again
Celtic FC Women head coach Fran Alonso has taken to social media to thank players’ families and declare “Glasgow is green” after today’s massive derby win over Rangers.
The women’s side have beaten their Rangers counterparts in all three derbies this season. It’s been a glorious clean sweep against the odds.
Alonso said on Twitter: “So proud of my TEAM, I’m delighted to train every day with this players and staff, that know what wearing a Celtic shirt means! Thank you to our players’ families for the extra support, the Ghirls felt it. Third Glasgow Derby win, Glasgow is green today! Mon the hoops!”

The Ghirls continue to build a bigger and bigger support base in the midst of this brilliant 10-game unbeaten run.
Alonso’s side have only lost once since the restart to league action following a lockdown break, and that was to league leaders and perennial champions Glasgow City.
As we discussed earlier, Celtic are on the brink of qualification to the Women’s Champions League next season with the top two spots in SWPL 1 earning a place in the first round.
However, a greater prize is still available to the Hoops after City dropped points in a 0-0 stalemate at home to Hibernian this evening.
Fran Alonso could still lead Celtic to SWPL 1 title
Celtic are now just three points behind the league leaders with three games remaining. The Ghirls ostensibly have an easier run-in, with City having to play against Rangers on the final day.
It could be a blockbuster end to the campaign.
A Celtic league triumph would be a massive shock, with many predicting a third-placed finish this season.
The team next play on Wednesday night against Hibs, with games against Forfar Farmington and Motherwell to follow.
We’ll keep you updated as always.
In other news, report claims Celtic target Eddie Howe has been earning £100k-a-week from Bournemouth this season.
