Celtic have announced the club’s B team will be heading to Ireland next month to take on Sligo Rovers at The Showgrounds.
Darren O’Dea and Stephen McManus will take the youth prospects across the Irish Sea on Tuesday July 11th, with kick-off coming at 7pm.
Sligo manager, John Russell said on welcoming the Bhoys: “It promises to be a good occasion for both clubs here at The Showgrounds. I know there is a good history between the clubs with various players or staff having played or managed both here and in Scotland.
“It will be a good test for us, and it will also be good for the supporters of both clubs to come to The Showgrounds and see a good game of football.”
Celtic have a number of historical links with Sligo Rovers and the surrounding area. Club founder Brother Walfrid was born in Ballymote while the legendary Sean Fallon was born in the town of Sligo itself, even playing for the club before making his move to the Bhoys.
More recently, Willie McStay, Celtic’s current Head of Academy Scouting, was player/manager from 1992 to 1994 when he won the historic Treble of the FAI Cup, First Division and First Division Shield in the ‘93/94 season.

Right up to current times, Celtic signed Johnny Kenny from the Bit O’ Red, who is currently out on loan at Shamrock Rovers in the same division.
Tickets for the match are now available via this link and are priced at €15 for Adults, €10 for Seniors and Students and €5 for Under 12s.
