Tommy McIntyre’s Celtic B team have drawn in the Scottish Lowland Football League today, at home to East Kilbride.

East Kilbride are one of the fancied teams in the division, so the 1-1 win can be seen as creditable. However, conceding an equaliser in the final moments will be a bitter disappointment for the youngsters.

Owen Moffat, returning to the group after experience with the first-team, made his mark with a superb first-half strike.

It was something of a team goal, in fact, with MacKenzie Carse, Rocco Vata and Bruno Davidson both involved in the build-up.

Moffat’s surging run and one-two with Vata was the spark needed to split open the East Kilbride defence, before the young attacker half-volleyed in an fine, clinical finish. You can see the goal on the official Celtic B Twitter page.

Owen Moffat could get call up from Celtic B again

The young Celtic team will be disappointed not to see out their advantage and pick up three points. However, it’s another good learning experience.

Encouragingly, Moffat eventually made way, perhaps rested, for new Bhoy Joey Dawson on the hour mark. The striker made his debut for the B team after completing a move from Scunthorpe United earlier this summer.

Elsewhere there was a starting berth for young Rocco Vata, son of 1990s cult hero Rudi.

Unfortunately there was no method to watch the game today outside of being physically in attendance, but Celtic have promised extended highlights on Celtic TV this Monday.

Next up for the B team is a trip to Forthbank Stadium on Wednesday night to play the University of Stirling side.

In other news, Iniesta’s latest on Furuhashi should delight Celtic fans.
