Celtic B are through to the Glasgow Cup final after beating Partick Thistle 4-0 in a behind-closed-doors match at Lennoxtown on Tuesday afternoon.

Midfielder Tsonelo Letsosa scored a double to have the home side 2-0 up within half an hour. The starting eleven included first-team youngsters such as Rocco Vata, Ben Summers and Bosun Lawal, so it was expected the Bhoys would get off to a strong start.

Partick stayed competitive in the match and had the chance to pull a goal back in the second half with a penalty, but it was saved by goalkeeper Josh Clarke.

Celtic then killed the game off completely 13 minutes from time through a Corey Thomson effort before Ben McPherson added a fourth in the 88th minute.

The second semi-final takes place on April 18th and will be contested between Queen’s Park and Rangers. If the Ibrox youths get through there’ll be another opportunity for a Celtic team to show up our biggest Glasgow rivals.

The men’s, women’s and youth sides have all excelled in derby matches this season. Celtic are unbeaten in the last 10 at all three levels, ensuring that the slogan of “Glasgow is green and white” is more true than ever.

Celtic B’s Lowland League season comes to an end this Saturday at home to East Stirlingshire and a win is needed with the first and second places in the division yet to be decided.

Spartans remain red-hot favourites to win the title, currently sitting two points ahead with a game in hand, while Rangers B are also breathing down the Bhoys’ necks in third.

Finishing second, ahead of Rangers, would be a satisfactory showing in the league, with the chance of cup silverware ahead in the Glasgow Cup and at a lower age group in the Scottish Youth Cup.
