Celtic B fell to a second Lowland League defeat of the season on Saturday.
The young Hoops were in Edinburgh to take on Civil Service Strollers but it proved to be a disappointing afternoon as they fell to a 3-1 defeat.
Darren O’Dea and Stephen McManus’ side went in to the game two points clear of their opponents, but goals from Harry Girdwood, Lewis Duffy and Innes Lawson did the damage.
The Hoops trailed the game 2-0 going into the latter stages but were given some hope after Rocco Vata’s first-time finish.
However, Lawson’s clincher went in soon after to consign the team to another loss.
It has been a testing start to the season for the B side. Saturday’s clash was just their sixth fixture in all competitions and three of those have now been lost.
Perhaps that is just a knock-on from a new squad of players being put through their paces.
The Hoops starting line-up for the game against Strollers read: Clarke, Dede, Frame, Robertson, Agbaire, Ure, Thomson, Kelly, Vata, Carse, Dobbie.
A few unfamiliar names there who will hopefully improve as the season goes on. There were at least some positives in Vata getting himself on the scoresheet again.
The team now have a week before their next match which is a trip to take on former SPFL side Berwick Rangers at their Shielfield Park home.
After that it’s another meeting with East Kilbride before a home game against Albion Rovers.
In other news, Ross County defender Will Nightingale was blown away by his experience of Celtic Park last weekend
