Following on from the incredible success of Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic, the youth team are set to face Rangers in the Youth Cup final tonight.

The young Hoops line up at Hampden after they knocked out St Johnstone 5-0 in the semi-final at McDiarmid Park.

Kick-off is at 7pm and whilst there are no tickets available for tonight’s showdown, you can watch the game live on BBC Scotland from 6:50pm.

Young Celtic starlet Daniel Cummings, who scored twice in the 5-0 rout of St Johnstone, is looking forward to the match and says that Celtic are confident going into the final.

Speaking to Celtic FC, Cummings said, “The boys are confident going into it and hopefully we can just make it one to remember.

“It’s every boy’s dream to play at your national stadium. So hopefully we can make it a good team performance and ultimately get the win.”

Celtic have won the trophy 15 times since 1984. The most notable period of success in the competition was between 2010 and 2013 when the youngsters lifted the cup four years in a row.

They eventually reclaimed the trophy in 2017 where goals from Sam Wardrop, Calvin Miller and Aidan McIlduff sealed a 3-0 win over our Glasgow rivals. Celtic’s last appearance in the final was in 2019, losing 3-2 to Rangers. [SFA]

Interestingly, Anthony Ralston, Mikey Johnston and Conor Hazard all played in the 2017 final so it is worth keeping an eye on tonight’s fixture to see if there are any potential Celtic stars in the making.
