After Celtic announced that they are set to tour Japan and Korea this summer, we have all been waiting on news on who we will be facing as the club look to expand their marketing opportunities in the region.
Just this morning, Celtic have announced that we are set to face English Premier League side Wolves in the Korea Tour 2023. Serie A side Roma and the K League’s Incheon United are also taking part in the exhibition tour.
The outlet says Celtic will face the EPL team on the 26th of July at the Suwon World Cup Stadium. in what seems to be their only fixture organised so far.
The tour gives Korean striker Oh Hyeon Gyu the opportunity to represent the club back in his homeland against fellow international teammate, and Wolves star, Hwang Hee Chan.
The exhibition tour has been organised by Stadium X and Untouchable Sport Group.
Jaehyung AHN the CEO of USG said: “South Korean football is getting the recognition at a global level. More and more of our stars are playing in the various European football leagues and as an organization and a proud supporter of South Korean football, we want to do our part in getting even more awareness out there.
“The European teams and fans have embraced Hwang Hee Chan and Oh Hyeon Gyu and we want to invite their clubs to visit South Korea so that we can help our football heroes give their clubs an equally big welcome. And in doing so, we also hope we can help more of the world see and love the beauty and culture of South Korea.”
The club have yet to announce any further news on the tour of Japan but no doubt Oh will be delighted that he heads back home in the green and white hoops.
