Celtic U18s thrashed their Aberdeen peers 3-0 in CAS U18s league action today at Broadwood.
The match in Cumbernauld was said by the official Aberdeen website to have been competitive, but the Bhoys’ quality eventually shone through.
Mackenzie Carse opened the scoring with a close-range effort early in the second half.
Adam Brooks then doubled the Young Hoops’ tally with a fine effort that went across the goalkeeper into the back of the net.
Twenty minutes from time, captain Dane Murray rose highest in the box from a corner to bury a third and seal the victory.
Murray is considered to be one of the big first-team prospects currently emerging from the academy.
The 17-year-old recently signed a contract extension to the summer of 2024.
A physical centre-half, he’s also been getting some vital experience with the Celtic first-team at Lennoxtown. He gave his first interview to club outlet Celtic TV last week, as we discussed on 67 Hail Hail.
The club’s official Instagram account also shone a spotlight on his debut senior training session.
He stated his ambition to make senior team matchday squads before the end of the season. There’s a chance of that, if only on the bench, as the season peters out into irrelevancy.
If he continues to shine for the youth side, he’ll only boost his chances too.
