The club have uploaded highlights of Celtic B’s 3-1 victory over Cowdenbeath at the weekend, with the young Hoops getting off to a great start in the Lowland League.

It’s all change for the youths this season. Darren O’Dea and Stephen McManus have taken up coaching duties to more closely align the project with Ange Postecoglou’s first team.

There were some quality moments on display at the weekend too. Tobi Oluwayemi made a brilliant early save before Matthew Anderson and Bruno Davidson pushed the Bhoys towards victory with second-half goals. You can see the highlights via this link or embedded below.

Oluwayemi’s reaction save shows his progress working alongside Joe Hart and Ben Siegrist this summer. The England youth international is firmly embedded within the senior goalkeeping group at the training ground.

The big highlight, however, is Anderson’s second goal. The B team captain hammered in a beauty from outside of the box, following up on a sharp first finish after a surging run into the box.

With both of Anderson’s contributions coming from central areas, it’s clear Postecoglou’s plan of involving his full-backs invertedly is paying off at the Lowland League level.

Davidson’s curler was quite similar to Anderson’s stand-out effort, though the Cowdenbeath goalkeeper may feel he should have done better with the shot.

Celtic B will now travel to Berwick Rangers on Tuesday night with expectations of another three points. Berwick were hammered 6-0 by Hearts at the weekend and O’Dea will be hoping his team can capitalise on that woe.
