Celtic 11-2 Shettleston

Celtic were formed on November 6, 1887 and played their first ever Glasgow Cup tie less than a year later against the now-defunct Shettleston at Celtic Park.

Around 7,000 fans were treated to an attacking masterclass by a Hoops team which featured Willie Maley, who would go on to become Celtic’s most decorated manager.

The scorers on the day were not recorded, but this is only one of two occasions where Celtic have netted 11 goals in a single match.

Dundee United 0-9 Celtic

Defending Premiership champions Celtic absolutely decimated Dundee United on matchday five of the 2022/23 league campaign.

The Bhoys raced into a 4-0 lead at half-time with Kyogo completing his hat-trick and Jota adding another in first-half stoppage time.

Five more goals followed in the second period for Ange Postecoglou’s swashbuckling Celts, which included a 27-minute Liel Abada hat-trick.

The former Hoops manager told the BBC after the victory: “Our intent is to keep going and not let the scoreboard or the circumstances dictate how we go about things, and the boys were disciplined today.

“We knew Dundee United were going through a rough spell and they were probably a bit vulnerable today. We got on top of them early which allowed us to play our football.”

The stunning win remains Celtic’s joint-record league triumph alongside…

Celtic 9-0 Aberdeen

…this emphatic demolition of Aberdeen in November 2010 during Neil Lennon’s first full season as Celtic manager.

Gary Hooper and Anthony Stokes helped themselves to hat-tricks in a game which also saw two red cards, one each for both teams.

Former Celtic midfielder Paul Hartley was sent off for the Dons, before Norwegian defender Thomas Rogne was also given his marching orders.

This is Aberdeen’s heaviest defeat in their entire history and the biggest win of the SPL era (1998-2013).

Celtic 9-0 KPV Kokkola

This remains Celtic’s record win in European competition, as Jock Stein’s merciless side crushed Finnish outfit KPV Kokkola in Glasgow.

Funnily enough, Celtic were forced to play in their yellow kit at home due to KPV Kokkola’s green and white striped jerseys.

Harry Hood scored after just 45 seconds of play before completing his hat-trick with 36 minutes gone. Substitute Paul Wilson scored a second-half brace, with Jimmy Johnstone also among the scorers.

Celtic would go on to win the second leg 5-0 in Finland to rack up a huge aggregate scoreline of 14-0.

The Hoops reached the quarter-finals of the European Cup that season as eventual champions Ajax knocked them out.

Celtic 10-0 Hamilton Academical

Celtic love an early season thumping, don’t they? Two years before crushing KPV Kokkola, Hamilton Accies were dealt a painful lesson amid the Hoops’ greatest era of dominance.

Stevie Chalmers and Bobby Lennox definitely had their Weetabix for breakfast, with both players netting five goals each in this cup tie.

Celtic were 4-0 up at the interval before adding another six strikes in the second-half. This is Celtic’s second biggest win in their history, only to be topped by…

Celtic 11-0 Dundee

…Celtic’s 11-0 annihilation of a sorry Dundee team, who were actually said to be in good form heading into the Scottish top-flight encounter!

Around 10,000 fans were in attendance to watch Celtic record their biggest ever win, with James Blessington, Johnny Madden and Sandy McMahon all scoring braces.

Allan Martin finished that season as Celtic’s top scorer with 18 goals, yet he couldn’t find the net in this game!

The Hoops won the 1895/96 Division One title by finishing four points above city rivals Rangers.
