Ange Postecoglou is looked back on as one of Celtic’s best managers.
The Australian was a left-field appointment at a time when Celtic were in need of a major rebuild but, after a less than ideal start, soon started winning.
Some would argue that the football on display at Celtic Park across those two seasons was among the most enjoyable moments they had witnessed.
Recruitment was a big factor in that, and the signings made by Postecoglou at Celtic largely went on to be very successful.
So, with that, here are the five best signings made by Postecoglou during his time with the Hoops.
5. Jota
Our super star from Portugal, Jota is everything that epitomised the Ange era.
Brought in on loan from Benfica, the winger understood what it meant to play for Celtic, and has always given his all.
Goals against Rangers were a regular occurrence, and some of the magic he produced on the pitch left people breathless.
Jota rejoined Celtic in January 2025 after spells in Saudi Arabia and France and fans are looking forward to seeing the very best of him.
4. Reo Hatate
Reo Hatate can frustrate at times, but the midfielder is one of those luxury players.
Hatate’s ability to pick out a pass is the equivalent to finding a needle in a hay stack, and he is also capable of scoring a wonder goal every now and then.
Over the years, he’s formed a strong partnership with Callum McGregor and despite the temptation of moving to the Premier League, has remained in Glasgow.
3. Daizen Maeda
When Daizen Maeda first joined, the main concern was his end product.
The Japan international’s infectious work rate won supporters over immediately; however, he always struggled to score goals.
That changed in the 2024/25 season when he managed to score 33 goals in all competitions, albeit under Brendan Rodgers.
Huge credit has to go to Postecoglou for taking the chance on the 27-year-old, and over the years he has gone from strength to strength.
2. Cameron Carter-Vickers
Replacing Virgil van Dijk was always going to feel borderline impossible, but Cameron Carter-Vickers has been an adequate replacement.
The USMNT defender is one of the first names on the team sheet and forms the spine of the team.
Without Carter-Vickers, plenty more goals would’ve been conceded and perhaps less silverware won.
1. Kyogo Furuhashi
There was only going to be one answer for the best signing under Postecoglou, and that is Kyogo Furuhashi.
The striker is the best to have played for Celtic since Henrik Larsson and is responsible for some very happy memories.
His goal record against Rangers was superb, and he was always good value for a goal in a cup final too.
It will be hard to find someone as good as that, but Kyogo will go down as a Celtic legend.
