Eddie Howe to Celtic finally appears to be just around the corner, and the Hoops fans have been left buzzing because of it.

The Daily Record has reported that new Chief Executive Dominic McKay is looking for the appointment to be made by the end of the week. However, that announcement is unlikely to be today.

It’s also been reported that the Hoops are closing in on a new Director of Football. However, the new managerial appointment is said to be the top priority for the club.

Celtic fans have grown tired of the rumours in recent weeks. You have to go all the way back to January to find the first links for Howe to Celtic [The Sun]. Yes, Neil Lennon was still actually in charge of the club at that point too.

However, this is the first time the Record have committed to such a narrow timeline. And it would make sense too given the fact Bournemouth were eliminated from the Championship playoffs on Saturday. Howe’s preferred staff will now become available for him whilst any chance of a promotion bonus from the Cherries is down the drain.

An exciting seven days for Celtic fans is about to get underway

Seriously, it’s time to start getting excited about Eddie Howe coming to Parkhead

Some fans continue to be fearful. Scared of the prospect of an English Premier League club coming in and swooping for Howe. You can understand it given how long it’s taken to appoint the Englishman. But you have to look at the bigger picture here.

It’s clear there were issues regarding his gardening leave with Bournemouth. If he had wanted he likely could’ve walked into another EPL job by now. It’s clear he’s ready for a new challenge, and Celtic fit that bill perfectly for him.

We have to remember just how big an attraction we are. Howe knows he won’t get any of the top English clubs coming in for him yet. This is a massive opportunity for him to build up his CV and put Celtic back on top of Scottish football once again. Whilst he’ll also likely have an eye on making his mark in Europe for the first time in his career.

We have so much to offer Howe and it’s been enough to tempt him. But there have been roadblocks in place that have halted the appointment in recent weeks. Now, however, we can rest safe in the knowledge that they’ve been removed.

This is happening. For those still fearful, don’t be. It’s a matter of time, and these Celtic fans on Twitter know it:

In other news, it appears that Dominic McKay is already making the big decisions at Celtic.
