3 changes, boost for Rodgers; Celtic Predicted XI vs Hearts

Celtic can extend their Scottish Premiership points lead with a win over Hearts at Celtic Park on Saturday.

With second-placed Rangers not featuring in league action this weekend, the Bhoys have the chance to put points pressure on the Ibrox side, albeit having played two games more.

Morale is high in the camp after a late win over Feyenoord on Wednesday night and supporters are hoping to see that translate into a confident, intense performance this afternoon.

What team will Brendan Rodgers go with for this one? Here’s our best go at today’s eleven.

Potential Celtic team vs Hearts

There’s no sign that Joe Hart will be shifted out of the manager’s eleven for now. He has had some difficult moments this season but was in excellent form against the Dutch, making two or three crucial saves.

In defence, Rodgers is boosted by the return of Cameron Carter-Vickers, who has been training at Lennoxtown all week after a hamstring scare. He is likely to partner Liam Scales, who produced a man-of-the-match performance in the Champions League.

On each defensive flank, expect to see Alistair Johnston and Greg Taylor.

Tomoki Iwata is a doubt for today’s game after limping off against Feyenoord. He hasn’t been spotted in training pictures since then and it looks like Callum McGregor will be returning to that number six position.

Matt O’Riley, superb mid-week, should retain his place in the team, while Paulo Bernardo is the most likely option to come in and replace Iwata.

Daizen Maeda is also back in contention for selection. He’s been out for a while so the manager may well prefer to deploy him from the bench initially but, for me, Celtic don’t really have that luxury right now with the other options available.

Get him in the team to disrupt the Hearts defence, with Luis Palma and Kyogo Furuhashi unleashed across the rest of the attack.

Your predicted XI in full is: Hart, Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Scales, Taylor, McGregor, O’Riley, Bernardo, Maeda, Palma, Kyogo.
