Normal service has resumed for Celtic in the Premiership.

After all the talk and noise this summer, Celtic have two wins from two, including beating Aberdeen 2-0 on Sunday at Pittodrie, and Shin Yamada was seen for the first time in a competitive environment.

Celtic signed Yamada from Kawasaki Frontale, and he was handed around half an hour by Brendan Rodgers, when he replaced the under pressure Adam Idah as the centre-forward.

Idah is yet to score this season, and with Celtic in League Cup action against Falkirk next Friday evening, the fans were pretty clear in their thoughts.

Celtic fans react to Shin Yamada’s cameo vs Aberdeen

There was nothing out of the ordinary from Yamada, but just a positive step forward as he looks to earn more minutes in the famous green and white colours.

The Celtic Park faithful expressed on social media that they want the 25-year-old thrown straight into the deep end for the League Cup clash against Falkirk.

Look away now, but Idah is getting criticism, and the supporters just want to see something different upfront.

@Jayc67x made his point clear: ‘Start him Friday.’

@Velociraptor198 compared Yamada and Idah: ‘And did A LOT more than Idah.’

@TonyGreen67 gave Celtic’s new boy his flowers: ‘I thought he done well.’

Another Idah comparison, as @Bowley67_ added: ‘Was better than Idah in the short amount of time he played. Has to start going forward, imo.’

Another call for Yamada to start: ‘Please start him on Friday.’

@BigBuck_78 states what Yamada does better than Idah: ‘In 10 mins, it’s plain to see that he holds the ball up better than Idah and has movement in behind.’

@Steven_Ward88 had a message for Brendan Rodgers: ‘Start him over Adam because he’s doing nothing and we’ve got nothing to lose.’

@auditor1888 is hopeful: ‘He’s going to be a player.’

@dgarydfella just posted three words: ‘Better than idah.’

Another Celtic fan calling for Yamada to earn more game time, as @Michael01310692 added: ‘More game time will lead to vast improvement, then it could be a case of Adam who?’

Adam Idah and Yamada’s stats for Celtic against Aberdeen

What’s interesting is that Johnny Kenny was on the bench, yet he didn’t even come on, so you question what that means for him.

Either way, after being handed a rating of 6.13 against St Mirren on Flag Day, Idah was rated slightly better against the Dons and rated at 6.49 by WhoScored.

In comparison, new boy Yamada, and it needs to be noted that he only played 24 minutes, was rated 6.04, and this is what the stats say about the Celtic duo.
