Ally McCoist shares what he really thought after watching Celtic fans troll Rangers anthem at Ibrox

Celtic fans were allowed inside Ibrox for the first time in over two years to watch their heroes take on Rangers in the Glasgow Derby.

Celtic earned a draw against Rangers after Adam Idah’s equaliser cancelled out Cyriel Dessers’ first-half opener as the final fixture between the two clubs ended in a stalemate.

Brendan Rodgers’ lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership remains intact as the Scottish champions now focus on ending the season with a treble.

And whilst much of the headlines have been dominated by the Rangers fans’ TIFO, it’s what the Celtic fans did as the teams walked out onto the pitch that caused talkSPORT’s Shebahn Aherne to wind up Ally McCoist.

Ally McCoist says what Celtic fans did at Rangers was ‘brilliant’

Celtic fans raised the Ibrox roof as they superbly sang out Simply the Best which Aherne said the travelling Hoops support sang louder than the Rangers support.

Aherne said on talkSPORT, “You [McCoist] are the voice of Rangers, that’s absolutely fair to say. Absolute legend of the club.

“You speak for and represent many fans. The players come out the tunnel, they’re walking out to Simply The Best, and the 2,000 Celtic fans are almost singing louder than the Rangers fans.

“Because they’re not really simply the best over the last few seasons, are they Ally?”

McCoist appeared to take it well and said, “I think it’s brilliant, I think it’s hilarious.

“I don’t have a problem with it at all, I thought it was an absolutely brilliant wind-up.”

Celtic’s final three Scottish Premiership fixtures including Trophy Day

Now that the final Glasgow Derby is over, Celtic have three more fixtures to complete before Trophy Day, a fixture that has become iconic in the Hoops calender.

With a 17-point gap at the top of the table, Rodgers could extend that lead if he manages to win the final three Celtic fixtures of the season.

With so much to look forward to this season, will Celtic fans give another rendition of the Rangers anthem just rub the Ibrox supports nose right in it?
