Ange decision vindicated as Tom Rogic impresses for Celtic vs Motherwell

Tom Rogic played a starring role in Saturday’s important Celtic win away to Motherwell this afternoon.

The Bhoys badly needed all three points against the Steelmen and didn’t disappoint, knocking in a goal in each half to win 2-0. With Rangers drawing at home to Hearts, the points gap to the Ibrox side is now just four points.

The starting line-up raised a few eyebrows amongst supporters, some of whom didn’t fancy seeing an open, attacking midfield at Fir Park.

Both Rogic and David Turnbull started together instead of Nir Bitton. In the end, the manager’s decision was fully vindicated with Rogic creating a stunning assist and Turnbull scoring an even better goal.

Given the Australian travelled around the world over the last 10 days on international duty, it was a brilliant performance.

His efforts eventually allowed Ange to rest him ahead of Tuesday afternoon’s match at home to Ferencvaros, with Nir Bitton coming on 20 minutes from time.

It seems very likely that Rogic will be given the nod for the Europa League encounter and will be key in breaking down the Hungarians.

His through ball for Jota’s opening goal today was delightful and the kind of cutting edge we need to show more of consistently.

If he maintains this fitness and quality, Celtic will be very hard to stop in the coming weeks at home and abroad.
