Ange Postecoglou picks out "unbelievable" Celtic duo despite Dundee United draw

Ange Postecoglou was delighted with the efforts of Jota and Liel Abada yesterday, despite the Celtic team drawing 1-1 with Dundee United.

Abada got himself on the scoresheet early on in the encounter, sticking home a dangerous cross from the Portuguese winger.

The two players were easily Celtic’s most effective players throughout the 90 minutes. Jota hit the bar with just minutes remaining with a long-range shot that could have won the match.

And afterwards, Postecoglou wanted to recognise their efforts, telling The Daily Record: “They were unbelievable.

“They are just starting their Celtic careers. Liel is 19-years-old and this is Jota’s first real crack at regular senior football.

“With that comes responsibility but I thought they were both outstanding and both could have had a couple of goals.”

Despite their age, Celtic will likely be relying on them again against Bayer Leverkusen and Aberdeen, with other attacking options not exactly hitting the heights needed in the absence of Kyogo Furuhashi.

Kyogo’s return can’t come soon enough and that hope will be he can expertly link up with both Jota and Abada in a front line that hasn’t yet been seen in full flight.

Celtic may be far from performing at their best at the moment, but in Abada and Jota, we have talents that bode well for the future this season.
