Ange to make 4 big changes; Celtic Predicted XI vs Motherwell

They say every Celtic game is a big game and you can understand that when considering this afternoon’s match at home to Motherwell. What could be perceived as a run-of-the-mill Celtic Park fixture has taken on new meaning after a poor result last time out, with every supporter desperate to see improvement from the trip to St Mirren.

Ange Postecoglou made a number of significant changes to the team line-up that day, some of them forced and others perhaps unwisely rotated into the side. Today, injuries are again a concern in certain areas, but the manager should have a strong squad to pick from.

What will the XI be? Here’s our best go…

Joe Hart has been almost ever present in the Celtic team this season and that’s unlikely to change against the Steelmen. However, the defence in front of him could be a change from what’s considered full strength.

Josip Juranovic should feature on the right flank returning from international duty, along with Greg Taylor who recently won his tenth cap with Scotland.

Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt remain injured however and will not feature. That means Moritz Jenz and Stephen Welsh will likely be the preferred central defensive duo.

In midfield, it feels unlikely that Postecoglou will persist with an Aaron Mooy and David Turnbull combination ahead of Callum McGregor. The captain is almost guaranteed to start despite his busy international break, with Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley ready to come in and offer the creativity needed.

In attack, Jota should return to the starting line-up, with Daizen Maeda and Liel Abada both available on the opposite flank. For me, Abada is the strongest contender to make the team.

That Jota and Abada combination should dovetail nicely with Kyogo Furuhashi, who is almost certain to feature given Giorgos Giakoumakis has returned from Greece duty with a knock.

In total, that’s four changes from Paisley with your predicted XI in full: Hart, Juranovic, Welsh, Jenz, Taylor, McGregor, O’Riley, Hatate, Abada, Jota, Kyogo.

In other news, Celtic Park set for kick-off rarity, but more pleasing news is coming for supporters.
