BBC pundit says Jimmy Thelin is ‘spot on’ for what he has said about Celtic

Celtic aren’t used to teams taking the game to them, but Aberdeen provided that on Saturday at Parkhead.

Jimmy Thelin’s side attacked Celtic in the second half, as they were rewarded with two goals and a point against the champions.

It isn’t a surprise that Brendan Rodgers felt the Aberdeen draw was ‘like a defeat’ because this was unexpected for his team, in regards to letting a two-goal lead slip.

Last season, when Rodgers returned to the club, he took a while to get going as the performances from the team weren’t really up to scratch.

But you can’t argue that, from pre-season this summer, Celtic have blown away the majority of teams they have faced on the domestic and European stage.

Put aside the Bhoys’ crushing defeat to Borussia Dortmund, every other team has felt the force of the double-winners from last season.

Neil McCann agrees with Jimmy Thelin saying Celtic really test you

The Dons went into this match with a 100% record of their own, but inside half an hour, they were 2-0 down and under the cosh.

That’s why Thelin told his players to calm down at half-time and how Celtic test you in all aspects of the game.

Neil McCann responded to those comments and added that he was ‘spot on’ with his assessment, as he told Sportscene.

“It’s funny because Jimmy Thelin’s is spot on when he says that this Celtic side really test you,” said McCann. “Mentally they test you when you are making good decisions.

“I have to be complimentary towards Jimmy Thelin because of how brave he is. He is continually trying to ask his Aberdeen team to play through, but Celtic are so well set up. They are there ready to pounce.”

Aberdeen’s attacking approach at Celtic Park applauded

Pat Bonner thinks some Celtic fans will like Aberdeen’s attacking approach as they now look to challenge for the title.

For the majority of time Rodgers has been in Scotland, hardly any team has provided him with a proper challenge and he has walked away with trophy after trophy.

You can’t see anyone stopping that soon because if Aberdeen do push Celtic all the way, at the end of the day, they aren’t used to dealing with the pressure during the final few months of the campaign.
