Celtic’s win against Falkirk puts the Parkhead club back into second place and just six points behind Hearts.

The Bhoys climb back up to second place in the Scottish Premiership after Celtic beat Falkirk 2-0 at Parkhead on Sunday.

Martin O’Neill will be delighted at the momentum and consistency his Celtic team are showing right now but one star didn’t seem to be sharing his manager’s enthusiasm.

Reo Hatate ‘didn’t break sweat’ in Celtic’s win against Falkirk

Reo Hatate has not looked like the same player Celtic fans enjoyed under the tenure of Ange Postecoglou just over two years ago.

The Japanese midfielder tore up the SPFL as he helped wrestle the title back from Rangers and turn Celtic into treble winners.

But it seems all is not well after McCall spotted the Celtic midfielder’s behaviour the day before transfer deadline day.

McCall told BBC Sport Scotland, “Celtic need two or three starters.

“Reo Hatate looks really unhappy for me. He didn’t break into a sweat when he came on.”

Reo Hatate’s spiralling Scottish Premiership Celtic form

Hatate has been at Celtic since January 2022 and has won a variety of silverware, and has plenty of Champions League experience.

However, his form in the SPFL has spiralled massively, and to give a snapshot, here is Hatate’s average ratings per season from Fotmob.

A steady decline over four seasons shows that Hatate is nowhere near the player he was when he first joined Celtic.

Should the Parkhead club cut their losses and let him move on or try and allow Martin O’Neill to help Hatate rediscover the form that made him an almost instant fan favourite.
