BBC pundits rave about ‘ruthless’ Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi tormenting Rangers

BBC Sportsound pundits were left seriously impressed by Kyogo Furuhashi’s Glasgow Derby display for Celtic yesterday, even Rangers fan Kenny Miller agreed.

Kyogo grabbed the headlines yesterday after yet another brilliant performance against Celtic’s bitter rivals Rangers. The Japanese forward has now bagged five goals in his last three appearances against Michael Beale’s side after netting twice yesterday.

His brace secured a 3-2 win at Celtic Park on Saturday and put the Hoops a step closer to retaining the Scottish Premiership. And he certainly impressed Celtic legend Pat Bonner and former Rangers striker Kenny Miller on the day.

‘Ruthless’ Kyogo steals the show

Speaking on BBC Sportsound, Bonner heaped praise on Kyogo after he opened the scoring for Ange Postecoglou’s side yesterday.

“What a brilliant finish,” he said. “Back to goal, had to swivel and turn. Really good goal from Celtic.”

Kyogo drew more praise later on in the game and this time it was from a former Rangers man in Miller. The Scotsman labelled the forward a ‘ruthless’ finisher after he bagged Celtic’s second goal of the game.

He said: “It’s a wonderful finish. Again he’s alert, alive, and ruthless when the chance drops. But it’s so poor from Ben Davies. He should be heading that out.”

Manager Ange Postecoglou was also effusive with his post-match praise for the Japanese talent, telling the BBC: “From the moment he’s arrived, he’s been outstanding. Every time he plays, he looks like he’s going to score. The way he works for his team, he’s just brilliant.

“I never have to gee him up, I never have to motivate him. Most of the time, he’s up against guys who are much bigger than him, more physical. He’s got this kind nature about him, but don’t underestimate his competitiveness. He wants to win as much as anyone.”

Celtic have developed a brilliant relentlessness in finding a way to win under Postecoglou this season and Kyogo has played a vital role in this. His movement off the ball is simply top-class and when he gets an opportunity, he rarely misses.

It means that Postecoglou’s men can produce positive results even while they aren’t at their best. It speaks volumes about Kyogo’s ability that he is even receiving high praise from Rangers-leaning pundits, too.

The forward now looks very likely to end up with more than 30 goals in all competitions this season as Celtic close in on a domestic treble, currently sitting on 28.
