There’s been a pretty funny reaction to Celtic’s victory over Rangers on Saturday. From letters to the Scottish FA, pundits having a meltdown on-air and Michael Beale moaning, it’s clear some are trying to warp the narrative in the aftermath. However, all of that is a sideshow.
What is most important to acknowledge is that Celtic won yet another derby with guts, skill and incredible unity. And today’s unique angle footage captures the sheer joy of it as 60,000 supporters show adulation for their playing heroes.
Matt O’Riley is at the heart of each celebration, clearly buzzing, while double goalscorer Kyogo Furuhashi displays his quality finishing, infectious personality and close relationship with the Bhoys support. You can see the video embedded below or via this YouTube link.
Also even more apparent from the reverse angle is just how good Jota’s finish was for Celtic’s third of the afternoon.
He was gifted the opportunity by a horrendous John Souttar pass, but the pace and composure he showed to nip in front of Allan McGregor and score from such a tight angle was truly outstanding. And yes, as many have pointed out, it’s very reminiscent of a famous Henrik Larsson goal at Ibrox.
These are truly brilliant times to be a Celtic supporter and we shouldn’t take them for granted. It’s easy to get caught up with the circus across the city and their antics, but really this season has been all about how good Ange Postecoglou’s team are.
This squad are closing in on an all-time points record in the Scottish top-flight and could break a club league goalscoring record that has stood for over a century. That’s the kind of pact that the Bhoys are setting right now.
It comes with improvement and progress, too, as Postecoglou continues to warm up the newer signings and build his team towards another tilt at the UEFA Champions League next season.
Undoubtedly there will be snipers out there trying to talk down Celtic’s continuing success – using a whole variety of excuses, but for us fans, the good feeling is undeniable. No one can take that away from us!
In other news, Ange Postecoglou pays superb tribute to “unbelievable” Celtic fans for helping beat Rangers.
