Another enjoyable weekend for Celtic as they head into the New Year in style.
Celtic beat St Johnstone on Sunday to continue their dominance in the Premiership and maintain their unbeaten run under Brendan Rodgers.
Meanwhile, Rangers continue to struggle, and after their late defeat at St Mirren on Boxing Day, they backed it up by dropping points at Motherwell.
It’s the same old, some old Celtic. Looking and playing like the best, whilst their rivals across the road continue to embarrass themselves.
Given the hectic Christmas schedule, games are being played thick and fast, including the rarity of Celtic and Rangers playing at the same time.
That was the case for the 3 pm kick-offs for Sunday’s games and those inside Parkhead certainly enjoyed themselves.
Celtic fans react in ‘joyous’ manner as Rangers struggle at Motherwell
Only a few days ago, Celtic put four goals past Motherwell, but Rangers were 2-0 down inside 45 minutes against the same opponent, including having two goals ruled out, especially Jack Butland’s own goal that should have stood.
As the goals were going in at Fir Park, Celtic were putting away St Johnstone and news was filtering through about their rivals’ struggles inside Parkhead.
BBC reporter Martin Dowden shared that there were ‘joyous’ scenes as the Motherwell goals were going in, as he told BBC Sport.
“Just as these home supporters were celebrating Nicolas Kuhn, who delivered yet another decisive moment, that news from Fir Park filtered through to a joyous reception,” shared Dowden.
“That lead at the top looks likely to grow ahead of a trip to Ibrox on Thursday. Everything is falling perfectly for Celtic right now in stark contrast to their main rivals.”

Celtic and Rangers should kick-off at the same time more often
For broadcast reasons and perhaps safety reasons, it doesn’t happen often, but it should because it’s so entertaining.
You can just get a guarantee from Rangers that they will provide the comedy and Celtic will continue to showcase how it should be done.
Pat Bonner, whilst watching Celtic’s win over St Johnstone, stated that is the ‘beauty’ of the same kick-off times, as he told BBC Radio Scotland.
Bonner said: “That’s the beauty of kick-offs at the same time. There is always going to be a reaction when your biggest opponent is down. The same probably would happen at Ibrox if Celtic were struggling.”
