After Celtic dropped more points against Kilmarnock this afternoon the supporters head home wondering how Brendan Rodgers is going turn around a defence of a title that has derailed spectacularly this season.
The draw against Kilmarnock means Celtic have dropped nine points at home this season and Rodgers will now need to try and pick up his team for next Sunday’s away fixture at Motherwell.
And as the fans showed their displeasure with a chorus of boos at the final whistle, the Celtic manager has reacted to yet another disappointing result in a season that is now starting to fall apart.
When asked if he had a message for the Celtic fans after the chorus of full-time booing, Rodgers said, [BBC Radio Scotland], “There’s still a long way to go.
“And I’m sure it will to and fro between now and the very last game. I’ve said before it was never going to be a procession.
“Every title is there to fight for and we’re there to do that. I can totally get the reaction of the supporters because even at 1-0 today they wouldn’t have be happy with that performance.
“And so for us then to draw the game I can, I can totally get it. All I can say is that we’ll be doing everything we possibly can to get the team in a better place after a disappointing result to go again next week.
“And we just got to stay with the team and give us that great support that they always will do.”
Celtic under pressure
After two back-to-back defeats against Hearts and Kilmarnock in December, Celtic went on a six-game winning streak before dropping points at Pittodrie.
And whilst many would say that isn’t a bad run of results, the performances in those wins have left a lot to be desired.
Celtic toiled at Easter Road and required two penalties to see off Hibs. At Celtic Park in January, a 1st-minute goal by Alistair Johnston was enough to secure a victory over a toiling Ross County side.

This team’s inability to finish off their opponents has proved costly and today will prove to be pivotal in the title race.
What will worry the Celtic fans is this, there is no sign that this team under Brendan Rodgers has it in them to dig out results when it really matters.
On four separate occasions this season Celtic have drawn games against opponents who have been struggling at the wrong end of the table.
The lack of cutting edge in this team is frightening and it will cost Celtic the title if Rodgers doesn’t find a solution, and fast.
