Celtic sent a message to their rivals tonight as they trounced Dundee 7-1 at Paradise tonight.

Brendan Rodgers has had to deal with a multitude of negativity this week but what a statement of intent as the Hoops boss delivered a result that not only gives the fans hope for the remaining ten games of the season, it will also have Rangers glancing nervously over their shoulder.

Seven goals all from seven different goalscorers was the perfect response to many people who had tipped Rangers to win the league after Celtic’s latest struggles to break down stubborn defences.

Well, it seems now that the Celtic we all grew to love over the past two seasons under Ange Postecoglou is back and the timing couldn’t be any better with just ten games left to go in the title race.

The Celtic manager was over the moon with his team’s performance tonight and couldn’t hold back his praise for the fans for their part in the Hoops win.

Rodgers said [Celtic TV], “I think it’s a big congratulations for the supporters because we’re here to entertain them but we need their backing and encouragement.

“And like you say at halftime, it filled us with great pride at the support that we got.

“So yeah, a Wednesday night, full house. It was it was great.”

The standing ovation the supporters gave the team at half-time was absolutely rousing but boy, didn’t this Celtic team just deserve it?

Six first-half goals in a performance that is befitting of the Scottish champions, the fans showed their appreciation for their team and it seems that the Celtic manager was bowled over by it.

Next up for Celtic is a tough away trip to Tynecastle to face Hearts on Sunday and if the team play at just half the capacity that they did tonight, then it will stand us in good stead for another important three points.
