Cameron Carter-Vickers on the one Celtic player who ‘had a good game’ vs Rangers

Celtic barely had any players on the pitch vs Rangers who earned pass marks on Sunday.

It was a miserable afternoon at Celtic Park over the weekend as Celtic lost 3-2 to Gers on their own patch.

Brendan Rodgers noted the Hoops missed Callum McGregor but that should not be used as an excuse by the manager whose team were poor on the day.

Some heavy hitters including Alistair Johnston and Nicolas Kuhn had poor games while Rodgers taking Jota off “shocked” one pundit as the Portuguese winger finally started to find his feet.

Maik Nawrocki ‘did well’ for Celtic vs Rangers

Cameron Carter-Vickers also was not at his best but the American named one star alongside him on the Parkhead pitch whom he felt did play well.

And that was the player who has featured the least amount for the club this term in the form of centre-half Maik Nawrocki.

CCV said: “I think Maik [Nawrocki] done well. I thought he had a good game, he was solid enough, won most of his duels. Like I said, second half, I don’t think they [Rangers] created much.

“I think they had the counter-attack from our corner, I think Luke McCowan got the block on that, and obviously the goal at the end, apart from that, second half, I don’t think they had much.”

What Chris Sutton said about Maik Nawrocki vs Rangers

Nawrocki has barely kicked a ball this season so far with the Celtic manager’s treatment of his defender being questioned.

The 24-year-old has managed just 113 minutes all season from three outings so to come in on a Glasgow derby day and perform well enough has to be commended.

Chris Sutton hailed Nawrocki for his showing vs Rangers with his lack of minutes coming into context.

The retired striker said: “In the first half, Celtic never really found their rhythm in the middle of the park. They came out strongly in the second half.

“I have got to say, Nawrocki, for coming in, 23 minutes all season, I thought he had an outstanding game.”
