It’s Trophy Day at Paradise this afternoon as Celtic take on St Mirren.
The Hoops will lift their fourth consecutive Scottish Premiership title at the end of the final league match of the campaign against the Buddies.
The title was wrapped up a few games ago when Celtic thrashed Dundee United 5-1 at Tannadice. Now, it’s time to really party.
But not before some frustration from the fans. Brendan Rodgers has confirmed his starting XI for the St Mirren encounter and it’s safe to say supporters on X are rather displeased.

James Forrest, Maik Nawrocki & Sean McArdle dropped
That’s because Rodgers has decided not to start any of James Forrest, Maik Nawrocki or Sean McArdle, all of whom were magnificent in the 5-1 midweek win over Aberdeen.
Celtic’s most decorated player of all-time Forrest is desperate to score in 16 consecutive seasons for the Hoops, but he won’t get that chance from the start.
Celtic fans loved Nawrocki against the Dons and think he is unfairly treated by the manager. It’s another disappointing day for the Pole as he begins on the bench.
And youngster McArdle made his Celtic debut against Hibs last weekend and looked tremendous in the midfield at Pittodrie. His reward? Not even an appearance on the Parkhead subs list.
Celtic fans react to Brendan Rodgers starting XI vs St Mirren
It’s caused so much frustration on social media platform X, with Celtic fans stunned that not one of these players have been handed a start.
One fan wrote: “how on earth does McArdle lose his spot in the squad”.
Another asked: “NO FORREST ??????”
This punter posted: “Cannae understand no starting forrest when he was OUTSTANDING on Wednesday and he still needs his goal for the season.”
While another Celtic supporter said: “Rocky and Forrest on the bench, McArdle not even in the squad, couldn’t write it man”.
This fan wrote: “Ahh McCardle, all the best at Watford.”
And this reply sums fans’ feelings up: “I know I should enjoy Trophy day but what’s with 4 defenders on the bench and no McArdle or any other young players. Have a great day.”
