Five things we learned as Celtic thrash Dundee United to secure another Scottish Premiership title

Celtic won their fourth Scottish Premiership title in a row following victory against Dundee United at Tannadice on Saturday.

After a laboured first 15 minutes, the result was never in doubt, the Celtic players performing well as they cut through their opponents with ease following Ryan Strain’s own goal.

It was a performance and afternoon to savour for the travelling Bhoys fans, with the Celtic contingent on social media sending a message to their Rangers counterparts after equalling the record for the most top-flight titles in Scottish history.

That is just one of several talking points, of which 67 Hail Hail will delve into now.

Nicolas Kuhn’s return to form

After an excellent start to the season, Nicolas Kuhn’s form has been patchy to say the least in recent weeks.

Rodgers opted to play the 25-year-old from the beginning against Dundee United, and his faith was repaid.

Two strikes in the first half put his side in control, before a lovely pass with the outside of his foot allowed Alistair Johnston to cross for Adam Idah to head home his first of the afternoon.

What will be more pleasing for Rodgers, though, is Kuhn’s work rate, the winger repeatedly tracking back to help out his teammates and win the ball.

A few more performances like that will surely see the talented winger start for Celtic against Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup Final in May.

Jota’s injury looks to be a nasty one

The one dark spot to an otherwise brilliant day, Jota’s first-half injury looked painful and potentially serious.

The forward caught his studs in the turf, likely doing damage to his knee ligaments as he then attempted to change direction.

After the game, the 26-year-old was wearing a protective brace around his knee, reflecting the severity of the injury.

For his and Celtic’s sake, hopefully the injury isn’t as bad as first feared.

Daizen Maeda’s creativity is as good as his goals

Sitting as the top scorer in the Scottish Premiership this season, Daizen Maeda’s goalscoring ability is second to none.

As he proved against Dundee United, what is as good as his prowess in front of goal is his playmaking ability.

The winger laid on both of Kuhn’s goals, with the first cross in particular a wonderful ball in.

With those two assists, Maeda also took himself to nine for the campaign, taking himself one above Kuhn to lead the league outright in that category.

Sunday’s clash with Rangers is going to be huge

Old Firm clashes are always big.

Yet, in winning their 55th Scottish Premiership title, Celtic took themselves level with Rangers for the most top-flight championships in Scottish history.

Up next for the Bhoys? A trip to Ibrox.

The battle for next season’s title begins then, both sides looking to lay down a marker ahead of wanting to win the league next year to ensure they can say they are Scotland’s best.

Brendan Rodgers becomes the greatest living manager in Celtic’s history

Prior to the game against Dundee United, Brendan Rodgers had won 10 major trophies across his two stints with Celtic, level with Neil Lennon.

In winning the Scottish Premiership, the Celtic manager has taken himself third on the outright list for most major trophies won, behind Celtic legends Jock Stein and Willie Maley.
