Hayato Inamura was the star of the show for Celtic as the Hoops beat Cork City 2-1.

Inamura impressed for Celtic against Cork as he played the first half in a historic game at Pairc ui Chaoimh.

Brendan Rodgers hinted that the 24-year-old would be a long-term project and wouldn’t play much of a role in the first team.

However, after his first introduction to Celtic supporters, they’re all desperate to see more of the latest Japanese recruit.

How Celtic fans reacted to Hayato Inamura’s debut

Supporters seemed underwhelmed by Inamura’s arrival but the Hoops faithful have changed their mind already.

Hayato Inamura praised by media after Celtic debut

It wasn’t just supporters who were already feeling the love for their new recruit as Scottish media waxed lyrical about his display.

Michael Gannon of the Daily Record claiming he looked “more than decent”.

He wrote: “It might have been the lowered expectations, but Inamura was a real stand out, even in a more unaccustomed left back role.

“There will be tougher questions defensively, but on the ball he looked composed with a pretty handy left peg on him. He even played the inverted role on occasions and fired over some wicked deliveries.

“Rodgers might have a change of heart with more of a look.”
