It’s Champions League night once again and Celtic are set to go head-to-head with Club Brugge at Parkhead for the 8pm kick-off.

Brendan Rodgers will be hoping to build on Celtic’s superb win over RB Leipzig as he bids to get out of the league phase for the first time since 2013.

Celtic are in superb form and confidence is high, especially after the Bhoys’ win over Hearts at Tynecastle so with that in mind, how would the Celtic boss line up against the team currently sitting second in the Belgian Pro League?

Brendan Rodgers names Celtic’s Champions League starting XI vs Club Brugge

Brendan Rodgers has named his Celtic starting lineup to face Club Brugges as the Hoops boss hopes to keep those precious three Champions League points in Glasgow.

Rodgers has stuck with the same team that destroyed Hearts in 45 second-half Tynecastle minutes which opened up a three-point gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

One fan said, “Free Valle” whilst another said, “Bizarre Engels starting ahead of Bernardo and Taylor ahead of Valle. Baffling.”

Another fan added, “What does Bernardo and Valle have to do to start?” whilst another added, “I’d have benched Taylor and Engels.”

But there were Celtic fans who were happy with the team announcement:

One fan added, “Team choice not easy at all, but in BRENDAN WE TRUST🙂.” and another gushed, “Good team, please boys get this win and we are basically in the playoffs at the very least MON THE TIC 🍀💚.”

The problem Rodgers has is that he has such strength in depth there will always be some Celtic fans unhappy with some aspects of the team.

As for Taylor and Engels starting, let’s see how they do first as, so far, both have performed well in this Champions League campaign.

All that matters is that Celtic pick up the three points to take another big step to the play-offs and possible automatic qualification.
