Celtic have had a social media mishap ahead of their Europa League clash with Utrecht.

Hoops fans were eagerly awaiting Martin O’Neill’s line-up for the game on Thursday, a crucial one in the context of their European season.

Dutch side Utrecht are already eliminated, but victory would guarantee qualification to the knockout stages for Celtic.

After three crucial games in a week, there were questions over how many changes O’Neill would be forced to make.

But as soon as the line-up was announced on the club’s social channels, fans could immediately tell that something was up.

Two changes from the weekend. Who can make the hero for Celtic tonight?

Celtic announce incorrect Europa League line-up vs Utrecht

Marcelo Saracchi was back in Celtic training this week, so his appearance on the bench was slightly believable.

But seeing Cameron Carter-Vickers in the starting XI will have been… a bit of a surprise.

Carter-Vickers is in a race to appear again this season, such is the extent of his fitness problems.

But available via this screenshot from X user @seanmw88 is the incorrect line-up graphic which was posted on all of the club’s media channels.

Funnily enough, the only other difference between the incorrect line-up and the real one is Reo Hatate appearing instead of Arne Engels.

The line-up announced was actually the one from Celtic’s 1-1 draw with Red Star in Belgrade, which was over three months ago.

Brendan Rodgers was the manager then, and a fair bit has changed in the period since – including Celtic’s Europa League position.

Tonight’s match at Celtic Park kicks off at 8PM UK time, along with seventeen other Europa League fixtures across Europe.

Who would you rather have fully fit for the rest of the season: Marcelo Saracchi or Kelechi Iheanacho?
