Brendan Rodgers refused to hide his feelings about Celtic’s fans chanting for Kieran Tierney last weekend.
The manager was frustrated at fans singing for Tierney and “disrespecting” Greg Taylor.
Taylor was “absolutely fine” after the clash with St Mirren despite the fan singing amid speculation suggesting Tierney is closing in on a Celtic comeback this January transfer window.
Rodgers doubled down on his comments and insisted he would not be quiet if he felt he had to say something, but the boss was branded “touchy” by John Hartson in the aftermath.
Fans were divided on Rodgers’ words with some accepting what their boss had to say on the issue.

Celtic fans chanted for old players after Rodgers’ comments
However some were more interested this evening in having a subtle pop at the Irishman as sections whipped out the old songbook for a number of former players at Parkhead.
Some top tunes were dusted off including chants for Henrik Larsson and Scott Sinclair as well as another old favourite, ‘Don’t sell McCourt’.
Stuart Armstrong and his fine hair and Moussa Dembele were then serenaded before the Green Brigade chimed in with their own anthem.
‘Jota on the wing’ rang out from the North Curve as if to challenge Rodgers on his comments from the weekend.
The Holy Goalie, Artur Boruc, also got a shout out.
What Rodgers said about fan chants vs St Mirren
Rodgers claimed it was a “total lack of respect” from the fanbase to sing for Tierney despite Taylor’s efforts.
And he took umbrage with their decisions.
“Total lack of respect, of course it is,” he said.
“Look at Greg Taylor. He has been absolutely amazing at this club. How does he feel? He’s playing, bleeding, breaks his nose bleeding for the club, for the cause.
“I’m more worried about the players that’s here. It’s not very respectful. You sing for another person, no matter what Kieran’s history is. I don’t like that. I hear the stuff around him in the Champions League.
“But to be fair, I had hundreds of Celtic players that haven’t been good enough in the Champions League. There’s lots of players. What I know is this is a man who gives everything for this club and hopefully we can keep him here because we’re trying to build a strong squad.
“I put myself in his shoes, playing left back in the game, and they are singing the name of someone else and he’s stood on the side and the supporters are singing the name of another man, especially when you’re doing so much for the club and have given so much for the club. It’s so frustrating.”
