Park the Honda Civic aside, Brendan Rodgers, because Auston Trusty brought out the Rolls-Royce for Martin O’Neill against Rangers.
In what has been one of the most chaotic weeks in Celtic’s history, including the shock and brutal departure of Rodgers.
Celtic secured a stunning win over Rangers on Sunday at Hampden to book their League Cup final ticket and a meeting with Stephen Robinson’s St Mirren.
As always, it was a game full of drama, chaos and huge talking points, including Thelo Aasgaard’s sending off in the first half, Auston Trusty’s possible red card challenge on Jack Butland and a questionable penalty for the Gers, which took the game to extra time.
That’s when Callum McGregor and Callum Osmand secured the victory for the champions of Scotland, with Trusty getting his flowers.

Celtic fans react to Auston Trusty’s performance against Rangers
It wasn’t so long ago that Dane Murray was playing against Hearts, producing an abject display, all whilst Trusty was sitting on the bench.
The Celtic Park faithful have questioned Rodgers for what he was thinking because they were amazed by his performance against Rangers.
Premier Sports were the host broadcasters for the match, and Michael Stewart, on commentary, gave Trusty the Man of the Match.
@ewancorky gave Trusty his flowers: ‘The hunger we are showing here is absolutely brilliant. Trusty has been awesome.’
@timmymhallet67 noted the US star’s aggression: ‘Trusty has been brilliant. So aggressive to the ball. And he kicks Butland in the dome just for good measure. A perfect half.’
@jor_el81 mentioned Murray previously playing ahead of Trusty: ‘One thing that the first half has confirmed is that the decision to play Murray ahead of Trusty was complete madness.’
@Bhoysean1 continued with that theme: ‘It was madness playing Murray ahead of Trusty.’
@buchan_jak29748 thinks Trusty should have been playing more: ‘How Austin Trusty hasn’t played this season when he’s literally our best defender.’
@mikeymclean1987 says Rodgers was ‘mental’ not to play Trusty: ‘Trusty’s last 2 performances just make it seem even more mental that Rodgers just point blank refused to play him. He’s won absolutely everything today. Was the same on Wednesday.’
More praise for the American: ‘We really have missed trusty, can’t wait for CCV to be back along with Johnston.’
@sloanybhoy7 gave three Celtic players their flowers: ‘Trusty. Maeda and Engels are superb today.’
@thEnd0fTheStorm used one word to describe Trusty: ‘Big Trusty’s been sensational.’
@cocomccall74 also showed some love to Trusty: ‘Trusty has been exceptional x.’
Trusty and Liam Scales stepping up in place of Cameron Carter-Vickers
There has been a fresh lease of life to Celtic’s performances under O’Neill, and Trusty has epitomised it with his pro-active nature and aggression without the ball.
With Cameron Carter-Vickers injured for the long term, Celtic are going to need their two senior centre-backs to step up, and so far, they are doing it with real quality.
Whilst Trusty is deserving of his flowers now, for most of the season, it could be argued that Liam Scales has been Celtic’s best player.
