Another game to forget for Celtic. And another abject performance from Brendan Rodgers’ side.
This has become a common theme in 2025, as Celtic suffered a 2-0 defeat at Dundee on Sunday, and in truth, nobody has any excuses.
One man who kept his place in the middle of the park was Reo Hatate, as he played alongside captain Callum McGregor and summer signing Benjamin Nygren.
That seems to be the midfield Rodgers is favouring this season, and the Celtic fans aren’t happy, with Hatate coming under fire.

Celtic fans react to Reo Hatate’s performance against Dundee
The issue with Hatate is that every Celtic fan knows that he is top dollar, and not many come close to him when he is performing at his best.
But the problem here is that those performances are now few and far between.
That’s why the Celtic supporters want the Japanese star axed from the XI, as they expressed their frustration at how he has been performing.
@ORebily thinks it’s ‘painful’ watching Hatate: ‘Hatate is our worst player. Watching him go backwards at every opportunity is painful.’
@unwittinglymine explains why Hatate ‘bugs’ him: ‘Hatate just bugs me. All the skill in the world, but hopeless most of the time.’
Another Celtic fan who is unhappy, as @PEDN341 added: ‘Hatate has had 4 minutes this half and he’s already worse than he was in the first half.’
@RabCorbett2 doesn’t hold back: ‘Reo Hatate checked out, a long, long time ago. He’s out there cheating himself and cheating all of us.’
Another Celtic fan questioning the Japan star’s commitment: ‘Does Reo Hatate even have any passion for a Celtic shirt anymore?’
@OrkneyBhoy noticed what Hatate did when he came off: ‘Not surprised Hatate whipped his shirt off so quickly. Not fit to wear it.’
@JM1888_ thinks Celtic need to start having ‘hard conversations’: ‘When can we start having long hard conversations about hatate and McGregor?’
Another Celtic fan firing shots at Hatate, as stated: ‘Reo ‘on his day’ Hatate.’
@bhoy_hoopy wants a clear out: ‘Yang, empty shirt Tierney, empty shirt Hatate, empty shirt Inheacho, empty shirt Ralston, useless Nygren, empty shirt McGregor, pointless Ccv & Scales, slow distribution. We need a total clear out, top to bottom.’

There was one moment when Hatate’s shot looked as though it had hit his opponent’s arm, and a penalty was awarded.
But replays showed that the effort from Hatate, which was blazing over the bar, smacked Paul Digby in the face, so the decision was rightfully overturned.
Hatate was subbed off with around ten minutes left on the clock, and this is how Sofascore rated his performance.
