Celtic star has just proven everyone wrong again

Celtic attacking midfielder Tom Rogic was just a joy to watch today. Not only did he score one of the goals of the season, his all-round play was so crucial to the overall team performance at Tannadice.

The majesty of his effort against Dundee United in the first half cannot really be done justice with words, but we’ll give it a shot.

Taking the ball from just inside the United half, he dribbled his way into the box before curling a finish into the far corner that anyone would be proud of. You can watch it below or via this link.

As mentioned, more than this, he was instrumental all afternoon before getting a well-earned rest to the bench. Pressing well, tackling robustly and sparking counter-attacks – the Australian was imperious.

His form this season is proving everyone who wanted him sold during the Neil Lennon era wrong. At the time, I wasn’t against his proposed move to Qatar. He looked done in a Celtic shirt, with the club even accepting a bid for him.

However, he personally chose to stay in Scotland and attempt a renaissance. Thank goodness he did.

Hopefully, he is now wrapped in cotton wool all week to again be deployed against Motherwell next Sunday at Celtic Park. It would be nice to play him against Real Betis but frankly, we don’t need to give there are low stakes.

That’s a serious luxury in this incredible busy December period and one that Ange Postecoglou should grab with both arms.

Long live Rogic and long live this Celtic team.
