Celtic supporters can’t get enough of David Turnbull right now.
They’re not wrong either.
The midfielder produced another classy display in the Scottish Premiership today. This time it was against his former team, Motherwell.
Celtic were dominant in the fixture for the first hour, with Turnbull at the centre of most of our progressive attacking play.
He had the urgency to push into the final third and combine with Tom Rogic, Odsonne Edouard and others.
It was also his corner that led to the first goal. It was whipped in expertly and headed home like a bullet by young Stephen Welsh.
What a difference it makes to have someone competent on set-pieces eh?
Most of Turnbull just looks like a natural talent. His class and quality on the ball is effortless and doesn’t appear to be driven by confidence.
He’s playing like this in a pretty poor Celtic team. What can he achieve in a good one?
Like the rest of the players, the youngster did fade away in the second half. He was eventually substituted off late on.
However, he’s again demonstrated he is the future of this Bhoys side. Right now, he must be one of the only players we can be confident about heading into next season.
