Neil Lennon thinks Ryan Christie will return from injury to feature in the midweek Celtic clash against St Mirren.
The Bhoys travel to the Buddies on Wednesday night hoping to get revenge for the recent defeat at Celtic Park.
Christie missed out on today’s match vs Motherwell after rolling his ankle. Lennon had hoped he might make it, but clearly he just missed out.
The manager explained his thinking behind bringing Tom Rogic in to replace him against the Steelmen.
Apparently, the Australian has been very impressive at Lennoxtown recently.
Neil Lennon told BBC Radio Scotland pre-match (14:44): “Ryan Christie should be OK for midweek.
“I thought the team played very well [vs Kilmarnock], we looked a good, cohesive unit. So, we’ve got a ready-made replacement in Tom [Rogic] who’s been very patient and training very well, so I’m looking forward to seeing him today as well.”
Celtic functioning well despite Ryan Christie injury
So far, at the time of publishing, Celtic haven’t missed Christie much in the midfield today.
The Bhoys have been dominant throughout the first half. The tempo has been higher than in recent matches, with a bit of confidence flowing through the players.
We can’t go overboard of course, considering the circumstances, but the midfield is functioning well.
Rogic does look sharp and eager to impress, which bodes well.

Christie has never really found his form this season, perhaps a spell out of the team will be the best thing for all concerned.
Hopefully the team can add to their 1-0 lead and finish off Motherwell in the second half.
